Hay for Sale

HERBOLSHEIMER HAY is a family operation. We breed Sport horses, Pack goats, and run Stock cows ourselves, and we feed our product to our own stock. We have over 700 acres of alfalfa hay, and are happy to offer to the public premium quality alfalfa, for sale thru the growing season. We strive to produce a high quality product primarily for horses and dairy cattle. Premium quality Horse Hay is hard to find. That is hay, that has not been rained on, or that has no mold, little to no weed content, and NO BLISTER BEETLE in it. Our buyers include cattle ranchers, dairy farmers, horse owners and breeders, and large equestrian centers. Hay sells out of the field, rarely do we have hay left from year to year, but it never hurts to check.
OUR MISSION HOW MUCH HAY DO I NEED? A 1,000 lbs. horse will use 25 lbs. per day x 210 days = 2.63 tons per winter season. BALE SIZE AND WEIGHT ·
Small squares--75# to 90# ·
Large squares--830# to 900# ·
Large Round--1450# to 1650# HAY TYPE AVAILABLE Timothy is a very hardy, bunch-type grass used primarily in mixture with Smooth Brome grass, red clover. Timothy is also extremely palatable for horses. Orchard Grass : Orchard Grass is a moderately winter-hardy, bunch-type grass. It is commonly grown in mixtures with grasses, such as smooth Brome Grass. This type of mixture makes a fair horse hay. Legumes Alfalfa :Alfalfa and alfalfa-grass mixtures are grown for hay thru out the Eastern part of Nebraska. Alfalfa is high protein hay. Alfalfa is used and grown mostly for dairy milk production. With feed programs implimented using high protien grain suplimentation, in most cases, horses don't need a complete diet of alfalfa hay. However, I have found that grain suplimentation is money and in most cases your horse will not need to be suplimented grain along with a diet of alfalfa hay. However, diets high in alfalfa will need to be suplimented with a phosphorus source to offset the Calcium inbalance found in high quality alfalfa hay. This phosphorus suplimentation can easily be done by providing free choice trace mineral salt blocks for you horses. ![]() SHIPPING: Movement of hay costs money. There is man hours involoved, as well as gas, and equipment use. All trucking prices will be by private treaty. We can arrange for shipping, if you need a truck. Price of hauling is subject to gas prices and will cover loading of hay and trucking to your location. It will be your responsibility for the unloading of the hay. This must be done in a timely manner. We have found and contracted shipping with over 37 commercial contract carriers. Multiple loads are no problem. Please let me know in advance if you are needing shipping and I will be happy to check on availability. You are welcome to purchase hay, and then pick it up at our location yourself, or arrange for you own trucking. On this occasion, we will have someone available to load. Please allow us notice in advance so that we have adequate man power to load when you arrive. Shipping and shipping charges are the responsibility of the buyer, unless other arrangements are made in advance. All loads are sold FOB.
PRICING AND PAYMENT METHODS: Hay price will vary from day to day and month to month. The best time to buy hay is in the haying season. This is when you will have a lower price in most cases. Hay is a commodity. If you place an order for hay at such and such a price, you must down a deposit or pay for your hay that day. If you do not pay for it that day, the price may move up or down. No price can be guaranteed, unless paid for at time of order. If the hay has been harvested and ready for delivery, but delivery is to be delayed to a later date, there will be a storage fee applied. We deal ONLY in quality hay which means that it has been laboratory TESTED for Nutritional values. We price our hay fairly. We do NOT inflate our hay prices in markets which are affected by drought or other natural disasters. We generally price our hay per ton, FOB. For immediate delivery, we accept payment via: Credit Cards & ECheck (thru PayPal to windyhillsporthorses@hotmail.com), bank wire transfer, or money order. Credit Card and E-check Payments via PayPal require a 3% additional charge for this service. PLEASE ADD THIS FEE TO YOUR TOTAL WHEN PAYING THRY PAYPAL. Personal Checks, Business/Farm Checks, and Certified Checks need 10 days for bank clearance. All checks MUST clear the bank before we will ship your hay. TO EXPEDITE YOUR DELIVERY PLEASE USE YOUR CREDIT CARD or E-CHECK THRU PAYPAL, OR HAVE YOUR BANK ARRANGE A DIRECT WIRE TRANSFER CONTRACTING ORDERS: If you have pre contracted your order with us, we do offer discounts. Contracted orders do require a minimum deposit, and you are required to take the loads when they are ready to ship. Should you decide that you do not need a load that you have contracted, a cancellation fee of $175.00 per load charge will be assessed. Please remember that when you contract a load, this is a verbal agreement that I will guarantee that I will reserve the loads you have contracted, and you have committed to purchasing them. This means that I may very well likely, have had to send someone else looking for hay elsewhere due to our estimated available quantities. We do not have storage available to store large squares and large round bales for long periods of time. We do have minimal storage for small squares, and it is possible that they be available year around. We are not responsible for your load should it get rained on while waiting for a truck or during delivery. Please make arrangements with your trucker to have your load tarped during transit. We do place tarps over bales, at each harvest, while it is waiting delivery. We ask that you try to make arrangements to have your load shipped as soon as reasonably possible, or we will be happy to arrange transport for you. We will arrange for the trucking schedule, however YOU must be available to unload on the delivery date. We will do our best to coordinate a convenient delivery date and time.
We do guarantee on any load that you will receive a product that has been put up carefully. It should have been put up dry. The interior of the bale should be mold and relatively dust free. We will have lab test results for the hay you purchase, and are happy to provide you with those results. This is a product we feed our own livestock, and we pride ourselves in being knowledgeable in the harvest. Being a vet technition and having a degree in nutrition, I am happy to assist and answer any questions you may have.

_PREPARE FOR A REDUCED HAY CROP IN 2008_ The USDA has released several crop reports that indicate the number of hay acres will be down in 2008. The department also reported that the existing hay supply is lower than in previous years. This information, combined with higher input costs (fuel, fertilizer, land rent) and higher grain prices (corn, soybean, wheat), will likely lead to increased hay prices. _ Click the link above or to continue reading... http://maestro-trk.bloodhorse.com/trk/click?ref=zqoqmnmb8_ 1-d8x31bb9x16593&
